Ecofriendly way to get cardstock for your ATCs
Free Friday #6

I have made this tutorial for you..;-) Its about a ecofriendly way to make your own cardstock for your ATCs. I started making cardstock from cereal boxes, when I made more and more ATCs. This way I can reduce some of my waste and do not need to cut up new cardstock. The cardstock from the boxes is not always the same quality, but I actually do like it, that I have different cardstock for different designs and techniques

What you need:

cereal carton boxes
idealy a cutting maschine or a rectangle and a paper cutter
one trading card as a template
siccors
Please be careful when using cutters or cuting maschine that you are going to cut the cardstock, but NOT your fingers!!!!

Cut your cereal boxes on one side and on the bottom open so they will lay down flat

Get your trading card and position the ruler to the length of the card size.

Cut the cardstock of your boxes acording to this mesurement. Donīt worry about foldings or any spots that might be on the cardstock, we will take care of that later!

When you have cut all your cardstock to the proper size, position your ruler with your card template to the right width of the card.

Now cutt all the cardstock stripes to the right width of the cards. You will have some left overs that are to short. Use them to aply paint or as scraps for other projects...;-) Again: dont care about any folds or spots on the card stock! Just go over everything!

When you have done all that, you have a lot of pieces the right size for ATCs and some smaller pieces you can use for other purposes. Go through all the pices that you have cut and make one pile with the perfect ATC cardstock pieces and one with the folds and spots or any other damages that you do not like. The first pile is for making "good" ATCs, the second however is for try outs ! I like to keep them and use them for new tequnices or color samples or sometimes I like to use the "damage" to make a special design with.... let your imagination flow!!

From only three cereal boxes I get around 30 good pieces of cardstock and 30 pieces for my trying out things with!!! Think about it!!! That is a lot of cardstock!! You can use the same technique on already prepared cardstock or on special backcrounds, that you have made before! Again use your imagination...and now: go creat and have fun...;-)
